|Scope & Content||
This is a brown colored calendar from the year 1905 and contains a black and white photograph on it of the Reverend Richard L. Swain who was at the Congregational Church located in Laconia, from 1901-1911.
The base of the calendar is brown mat board with printing on the front stating : " The New Fireplace, Made with hands ..." and " To make something useful with one's own hands begets a satisfaction which amounts to fellowship with God and all his nobleman who DO things, Richard LaRue Swain". At the bottom of the calendar are attached with clasps, small paper pages depicting each month of 1905, with printing stating each month and the date 1905. On the top portion of the calendar is a photogrpah of the Reverend Richard L. Swain showing him standing to the right of a brick fireplace. The fireplace has a fire burning in it. He is dressed in a dark suit and white shirt and dark tie. He is resting his right arm on the frireplace. On the fireplace is a lamp on the left and a painting on the middle center and a smaller painting/picture on the upper center. There is another framed picture/document above the fireplace on the left side on the wall. There appears to be wallpaper on the wall on the left. On the right is a window with a curtain drawn across it. On the far right in the foreground of the picture is a railing along a stairwell. On the ceiling are several large exposed wooden beams. On the back is written
" Rev. Swain, Congo. Church". There is a light green colored ribbon inserted into a hole at the very top of the calendar, for hanging purposes.
