Item is a receipt from John Parker Smith, Groceries Flour and Grain Dealer. It features a handwritten list of items and prices. At the bottom it reads, "Paid," and is signed by John Parker Sewell. It is dated May 18, 1898 and made out for Mr. J. Z. Thompson.

This black and white photograph depicts the intersections of Main Street, Union Avenue, and Court Street, c. 1900. The image is taken facing north. There are utility poles with wires on either sides of the streets and trolley/street car tracks in the centers of the dirt roads. There are also sidewalks with granite curbs. In the lower left corner one can see the building at the south corner of Court and Main Streets. This was the John Parker Smith Corner Store There is a single-story flat-roofed addition off of the east (right) side. There is a sign mounted on the flat roof and facing main street. At the utility pole at the corner is a sign with "Street R.R. / Waiting Room."

This black and white photograph depicts the Old Corner Store owned by James H. Tilton (later the John Parker Smith Corner Store) located on the south side of the intersection of Main Street and Union Avenue. The building is 2 1/2 stories with gable roof running perpendicularly to the main street. The roof appears to be sheathed in wooden shingles and has three brick chimneys, one at the west end of the structure and two at the east, set down from the ridge. The building is sheathed on the north facade in lightly painted clapboards and with white painted brick facing on the east facade.
