This black and white photograph depicts the Weirs Railroad Station Passenger Depot located in The Weirs, in the 1890s.
In the foreground is a snow covered Lakeside Avenue. There is a horse drawn carriage proceeding down Lakeside Avenue on the left in the foreground. Also in the foreground on the far left is the edge of a railing, most likely along steps to one of the houses along the avenue. There is a light fixture beyond the railing. On the far right in the foreground is a utility pole. There are additional utility poles along the avenue leading off to the left. In the center middleground is the Weirs Railroad Passenger Depot with a long covered waiting area on the left side. The main building sits on the far right. Beyond the main building leading out over the water of Lake Winnipesaukee is the Weirs Cafe. In the background on the far left is the Weirs Times building with a water tower beside it. In the far background on the far left are roofs of houses and trees. The picture is actually a picture of an image that was located in a souvenir booklet published to mark the incorporation of the City of Laconia.On the page of the booklet below the picture is printed " Concord & Montreal Depot at The Weirs". Also on the page above the picture is printed advertising stating : " Dealer in Watches, Diamonds, Clocks and Jewelry. Silver Plated, China and___ss Wares. Spectacles and Eye Glasses. Watch Repairing, Engraving Promptly Attended To. ___ Main Street First Door North of Postoffice. Laconia. N.H." Also printed above the picture near this lettering is a drawing of two tools and "Pat'd Dec 9th 1884 & Mar 2nd 1886". On the back is written "c. 1898".
